Two Garda members were taken to hospital on Wednesday evening (July 22) after becoming unwell while handling seized vape products at Edenderry Garda Station.

RTÉ News reports that the vape products had been seized from a commercial premises as part of an ongoing investigation. Both Garda members became ill while processing the items at the station.

The two men are currently undergoing medical assessment in hospital, while welfare support is being provided to them and their families.

Edenderry Garda Station is expected to remain closed while further examinations take place and the building undergoes specialist deep cleaning.

During the closure, policing services in the Edenderry area will operate from Tullamore Garda Station.
