Durrow Pattern Day 2026, A Wonderful Community Celebration

“Durrow Pattern Day 2026, held on Tuesday, June 9th, proved to be a wonderful day of faith, fun and community spirit for all who attended.

The day began with a very special occasion as 27 children from Scoil Naomh Colmcille received the sacrament of First Holy Communion during Mass celebrated by Monsignor Sean Heaney. Followed by refreshments in the local hall. Congratulations are extended to all the boys and girls on this memorable milestone in their faith journey.
Then there was a large attendance at a Concelebrated Mass, joined by visiting priest Fr Brendan Corrigan from Kilbeggan who gave a very inspiring homily. Following Mass, the community made its way in a procession to St Colmcille’s Holy Well and the Durrow High Cross, led by the stirring sound of a piper, Pat Nolan, adding to the solemnity and tradition of the occasion.
At 4.30pm, families gathered at the Durrow GAA pitch for a lively Family Fun Day. The afternoon included children’s races, a schools’ football match and face painting by Little Big Town. Delicious food was enjoyed from Supermac’s and shop supplied sweets and ice cream. A fantastic time was had by all, and it was especially heartwarming to see the children enjoying the races and proudly receiving their Durrow Pattern 2026 medals.
That evening, a huge crowd danced the night away at a lively céilí in Durrow Hall, with excellent music provided by Michael Sexton, bringing a fitting close to a memorable day of celebration.
The winners of the Durrow Annual Pattern Draw were:
1st Prize (€300): Finn & Vega Kiernan
2nd Prize (€100): Pat Sheeran
3rd Prize (€100): Katie Berry
4th Prize (€50): Ashling Gleeson
5th Prize (€50): Jack & James McLoughlin
A sincere thank you to everyone who helped organise and support another successful Durrow Pattern Day, continuing a proud local tradition and creating wonderful memories for young and old alike.”
