Shane Lowry wins 2026 Irish Open

Offaly’s Shane Lowry has won the 2026 Amgen Irish Open, producing a dominant final-round performance at Doonbeg to claim the title for the second time in his career.
The Clara native finished the tournament on 23 under par, securing an emphatic 11-shot victory and setting a new record for the largest winning margin in Irish Open history.
Lowry began Sunday’s final round with a four-shot advantage and quickly strengthened his position, opening with a birdie before picking up further shots at the fifth, seventh and eighth holes.
A bogey at the ninth proved to be only a minor setback, with Lowry responding immediately with another birdie at the par-five 10th.
By that stage, the Offaly golfer had opened up a commanding advantage over the chasing field.
Lowry continued to pull clear on the back nine, with successive birdies at the 14th and 15th taking his advantage into double figures. His birdie at the 15th came courtesy of an impressive putt from around 44 feet.
With victory effectively secured well before the final hole, Lowry was able to enjoy the reception from the home crowd as he made his way towards the 18th.
He finished in fitting fashion, rolling in another birdie on the final green to complete his victory on 23 under par.
The win comes 17 years after Lowry first captured the Irish Open in 2009, when he famously won at County Louth Golf Club while still an amateur.
That breakthrough victory introduced the Offaly golfer to the wider sporting world before he went on to establish himself among Ireland’s most successful golfers, including winning The Open Championship in 2019.
Sunday’s success now gives Lowry a second Irish Open title and another memorable moment in a career that began on the fairways of Offaly.
Patrick Reed finished as Lowry’s nearest challenger, while fellow Irishman Tom McKibbin enjoyed a strong tournament, finishing tied for fifth on 10 under par.
Rory McIlroy closed with a final-round 67 to finish one under for the tournament, while Liam Nolan completed his Irish Open debut on three under.
For Lowry, however, Sunday belonged to him as the Offaly man completed one of the most dominant victories in the history of the Irish Open.
