Offaly B&B earns place on major national awards shortlist

The Harbour Masters House in Shannon Harbour, Co. Offaly has been shortlisted for the prestigious Georgina Campbell Irish Food & Hospitality Awards.

Overlooking the Grand Canal, the historic building dates back to the early 19th century and was once home to the Harbour Master, who oversaw navigation, docks, locks and quays in what was then an important hub linking the Shannon Navigation with the Grand Canal.

Today, the building operates as a B&B run by Niamh and Darren, offering canal and garden views, family rooms and breakfast options, while giving visitors the chance to stay in a property steeped in local waterways history.

The team said they were “absolutely thrilled” to be shortlisted and thanked their guests, neighbouring businesses and the wider local community for their continued support.

The Georgina Campbell awards are among Ireland’s longest-running independent hospitality awards, with businesses assessed through anonymous inspections.
